We believe that every child is worthy of love, care, and support and has the right to be treated with dignity and compassion. Canaan provides a balanced and appropriate therapeutic environment where children with severe physical and profound intellectual disabilities can receive specialised and personalised care in order to reach their full potential.
Support from our Community, Business, and organisations are of utmost importance in order to provide this level of care as many of our children cannot afford the fees we would need to charge to cover this. We also have orphans and are a place of safety.
What We Do
Canaan Care Centres is a non profit organisation that supports children with severe physical disabilities and profound learning disabilities, we have two big houses, one is the therapy centre and the other the residential.
Formally the Foden Centre, Canaan was opened in 2006, with a huge leap of faith, R100 rand in the bank and a committee of parents that needed and wanted a centre for their kids to attend daily and receive specialised care.
With a staff compliment of around 60, our manager and our administrator Leona Oates, we have a therapy team with trained therapy assistants and the carers.
Our sponsors are listed below as we are so grateful for everything they do for our children and centre.
